In January 2017, 46 Innovation Design Engineering MA+MSc students based in the UK, from Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art, travelled to Santiago, Chile, to participate in the 2017 GoGlobal project. They met and formed teams with students from Pontificia Universidad Católica in Santiago, and Universidad Santa Maria in Valparaíso. These teams brought together designers, engineers and innovators from all around the world.
Their collective design brief was to design the future of Chile's food systems, through five different lenses related to food: health and nutrition, rural urban dynamics, post-disaster response, extreme environments, and national identity. Over three weeks the international and interdisciplinary student teams held design workshops, performed first hand research, prototyped and validated their ideas.
This site showcases the collaborative work from the students' 3 week journey. The projects below reveal an exciting vision of the future of Chile’s food culture and consumption, which will in turn inform the global design agenda for the resilience of global food systems.
